Premier Dental Implants in Las Vegas

SECURITY AND STABILITY

If you are missing one or more teeth and looking for endurance and stability, dental implants in Las Vegas are the way to go. They may cost more and take slightly longer to complete than bridges or dentures, but they are the best choice for lifelong replacement.

As a trusted Las Vegas dentist, Sandquist Dentistry provides dental implants that are designed to last. Studies have shown that 95% of implants remain intact after ten years, whereas only 89% of bridges are holding in that same amount of time. Part of that longevity is due to the titanium steel posts and ceramic-like crowns they are made from. The titanium posts are surgically embedded into your jaw for a secure anchor. The ceramic crowns are then affixed to the posts for strong secure life-like tooth.

They don’t rely on the surrounding teeth for support, like bridges and dentures do, and they also help protect your neighboring teeth by providing a solid foundation. Since they are implanted right into your jaw, they give your bone something to grow on to, reducing your chance of bone loss. Without a root (or titanium post) in the jaw for bone to grow onto, bone loss will occur…which will eventually lead to more tooth loss, and more bone loss – a viscous cycling leaving you with an empty mouth. Here’s what happens if you don’t get an implant tooth—and why it’s important to act early.

But with an implant, the titanium posts are coated with a stimulant to promote bone growth. Your body actually bonds with the posts as it would with a real tooth root, yet it’s stronger than a natural root and tooth – like a bionic tooth.

Implants are not just for function, either. They can improve your overall appearance, thus improving your confidence. With a natural look without the embarrassing possibility of dentures popping free, you can smile without worry. They also feel more like your original teeth, so you won’t have to go through that uncomfortable adjustment stage as with the other options.

If damage occurs to the ceramic tooth, it can be restored or replaced without removal of the steel post. If cared for properly, they can last as long as you do. FAQs

Does Sandquist Dentistry do dental implants?

Yes, though we do not place your implants at the Sandquist Dentistry Las Vegas office. We work hand in hand with an implantologist from another office who will place your dental implant. Then, after your dental implant heals, you will return to our office for two appointments.

  • To get a digital scan in order to custom-design your new tooth

  • To place your new abutment and crown.

*Some dental implant patients also need additional procedures in tandem with their dental implant, like extraction, bone grafting, sinus lifts, and sedation dentistry. Every case is unique, and you can schedule a complimentary consultation with Sandquist Dentistry to understand your next steps.

The ideal process for receiving a dental implant in Las Vegas takes between 3 and 6 months. Here’s how it works:

  • Start with a complimentary consultation to get a thorough oral examination and digital scan to determine your bone density and medical history.

  • If necessary, preparatory treatments will be recommended, like tooth extraction and bone grafting.

  • If you choose to get a dental implant, the next step is the surgical placement of your dental implant under local anesthesia or sedation.

  • After surgery, your dental implant undergoes a healing process, called osseointegration, where your new titanium implant fuses with your jawbone over 3 to 6 months.

  • While you are healing and waiting for your restoration, we will scan you and place an essix tray over the site of your implant, like a retainer tray with a tooth, to fill the empty area.

  • During the healing process, you’ll get another digital scan so your implant restoration (the abutment and crown) can be custom-designed for your mouth.

  • Once osseointegration is complete, a small connector that rests on top of your implant, called an abutment, will be secured in place with a two-week healing process to follow.

  • The final step is the placement of your custom-made crown, bridge, or denture, which looks like a new tooth and restores the original function and aesthetic of your smile.

With proper care, dental implants will last a lifetime. The attached crown, bridge, or denture lasts for 15 years, and thereafter may require replacement. Make sure to avoid habits like smoking or teeth grinding, and floss and brush your implant just like your regular teeth, twice daily.

Dental insurance covers a portion of the dental implant cost, usually the implant procedure itself, or just the crown or abutment. There are also waiting periods and annual limits applied to dental insurance for implants. It’s important to understand your specific dental insurance policy so you know what’s included and what your out-of-pocket expenses for implants will be.

Sandquist Dentistry Las Vegas is a fee-for-service dental implants provider. This means we charge you directly for your implant restorations, rather than having a pre-negotiated rate with your dental insurance company. With us, you’ll pay for the cost of your abutment(s) and crown(s), and we give you the necessary documentation to file your claim for reimbursement. Your dental insurance company will then reimburse you directly for the portion of the implant restoration that your plan covers.

The dental implant placement procedure is not painful with the aid of anesthesia or sedation. After surgery patients can experience some discomfort, soreness, and swelling at the site of the implant. Over-the-counter pain relievers are effective for pain management, and discomfort should subside within 3-7 days.
